International Theatre Production & Cultural Exchange
--Bringing distinctive international theatre to UK audiences, from first encounter to final curtain.
In 2026, Red Whiskers Production expanded into the UK presentation and touring development of international theatre, beginning with Dünyada — an experimental solo performance created in Istanbul by acclaimed Turkish actor-director Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu and Vertov Film Theatre.
The project began when Red Whiskers founder and producer Ziyi Cao encountered the original Turkish-language production in Istanbul’s independent theatre scene and recognised its potential to speak across language, geography and cultural experience. From that first encounter, Red Whiskers built and led the production’s route into the UK.
Our work covered the full producing journey: funding and contingency strategy across grant, sponsorship and self-funded routes; production budgeting; venue, festival and supplier negotiations; international artist travel and accommodation; local crew assembly; English-language rehearsal planning; and the technical adaptation of the production’s live camera, projection and sound design for London venues. Throughout the process, we worked closely with Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu and the original Turkish creative team to preserve the production’s artistic character while allowing it to respond directly to a new city and audience.
Red Whiskers also developed an extensive audience and cultural partnership programme around the production. This included collaborations with universities, student societies, Turkish cultural organisations, migrant and diaspora networks, independent artists and London theatre communities. Alongside accessible ticket offers, student work opportunities and artist conversations, the campaign connected Turkish theatre with audiences across film, performance, visual art and intercultural practice.
The project culminated in Dünyada’s London premiere and limited Camden Fringe 2026 run at The Cockpit and Camden People’s Theatre. Red Whiskers oversaw festival management, local production, venue coordination, front-of-house planning, community outreach, social media, listings, print distribution, press relations, reviewer engagement, partnership campaigns and audience development from launch through performance.
This work established a practical model for future international theatre transfers and small-scale touring. Red Whiskers Production now supports artists and companies seeking to bring international performance into the UK through market positioning, funding strategy, venue and festival relationships, cross-cultural creative development, local production, community partnerships, marketing, PR and touring infrastructure.
We are particularly drawn to work that moves across languages, disciplines and borders — work capable of creating a genuine cultural exchange between the place it comes from and the audience it has yet to meet.
